Man under probe for underage sex slept with another teen

He was already under police investigation for having sex with a 13-year-old student in October last year. But that did not stop businessman Winson Tan Ting Wei, 25, from repeating the offence with a 15-year-old student a month later. Tan was yesterday jailed for 11/2 years.

District Judge Eddy Tham said that the sentence must reflect Tan's lack of remorse after committing the first offence. He had been introduced to the first victim by her elder brother on Oct 1 last year, the court heard. They agreed to enter into a relationship and on Oct 13, she visited him at his flat in Pending Road in the Bukit Panjang area. She spent the night with him and they had sex in his bedroom. She was a virgin.

When she returned home later that day, her mother showed her a police report she had lodged as she feared her daughter was missing. Both then went to the police station to cancel the report and the teen told an officer about having sex with Tan.

Tan was called up by the cops for investigations on Oct 30. But a month later, he had sex with a 15-year-old student in her flat in Bukit Panjang.

He also did it again with her twice after that. It is not known how these offences were found out. Describing Tan's conduct in repeating the offence as "a blatant disregard of the law", Deputy Public Prosecutor Norman Yew asked the court to impose a jail sentence of more than a year. He could have been jailed for up to 10 years and fined.
