Man who posted death threats against Mukhriz Mahathir remanded
The suspect: The man who used the username 'Padi Jantan' will be remanded for four days.

ALOR SETAR - The 37-year-old man who posted death threats on Facebook targeting Kedah Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir and a state official has been remanded for four days.

The suspect had posted the death threats on Facebook against Mukhriz and Datuk Paduka Syed Unan Mashri Syed Abdullah, who is the Kedah Sultan's private secretary, under the username "Padi Jantan" on Friday.

Kedah police CID chief Assistant Commissioner Police (ACP) Mohd Nashir Ya said the man was picked up in Klang Valley at about 5.45pm on Sunday.

He said the suspect who is from Alor Setar was brought to the magistrate's court here to be remanded yesterday.

"He will be remanded for four days until July 17 to facilitate investigations," ACP Mohd Nashir said, adding that the case will be investigated under Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation.

More than 20 police reports have been lodged since the posting of the threats.
