SINGAPORE - Mr Poh Chee Keat, whose hand was trapped in a toilet drainage for nine hours on Sunday (May 10) will be footing the bill for repairs to a hole in his neighbour's ceiling, reported The Straits Times.
The hole was created when the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) hacked the man's bathroom and his neighbour's bathroom during the operation.
Mr Kalpesh Panchal, 34, an engineer who lives in the unit directly below the man, said the issue was settled amicably.
He added: "I have been using another toilet for now but otherwise it is not that much of an inconvenience."
Mr Poh's wife said that repairs will be done on Wednesday and that the cost has not been worked out yet.
"Our neighbour has been very understanding throughout the episode and we are thankful," she added.
The incident happened when Mr Poh tried to retrieve his fallen wedding ring during a shower. SCDF officers arrived at the Jurong West Street 52 flat around 6pm and took four hours to successfully release his hand.
