Maradona ex-girlfriend arrested, accused of Dubai theft

BUENOS AIRES - An ex-girlfriend of legendary footballer Diego Maradona was arrested Wednesday at a Buenos Aires airport for allegedly stealing from him in Dubai, police said.

"Rocio Oliva was arrested by Interpol agents when she arrived at the (Ezeiza International) terminal around 7:20 pm (2220 GMT) on a flight," a federal police source said.

The Argentine footballer, 53, charges that Oliva, 22, made off with items including watches and diamond earrings from their former home.

The footballer travelled to Dubai, where he lived with Oliva, to file the suit in the country where he was hired as a sports promoter.

The UAE then issued an international arrest warrant for her.

A footballer herself, Oliva denies the allegations. She has charged that Maradona struck her.
