Marina Bay Sands starts Christmas joy early with David Beckham

Marina Bay Sands ambassador and global icon David Beckham spent today afternoon with about 200 youth and children from Marina Bay Sands' designated charities, Association for Persons with Special Needs and Ang Mo Kio Family Service Centres and Student Care Service. The kids had an up-close encounter with the legendary footballer including a photo-taking and a question-and-answer session with the star.

The Sands for Singapore event was the culmination of a gifting process that started two weeks ago, with 1,100 Team Members donating over 1,500 pre-loved and new presents for the children and youth aged between 3-18 years old. It then took another 800 volunteers to collect, pack and wrap each present.

For their contributions, the Team Members also had the chance to meet David Beckham in a separate appreciation session earlier in the afternoon.

Following the private sessions with beneficiaries and Team Members, Beckham then took to the stage at the Skating Rink as he joined thousands of fans to usher the holiday season by launching the Festive Light-up which bathed the integrated resort in hues of white, green and red.

Spectators around the Bay were treated to a visual extravaganza as the underbelly of the Sands SkyPark, the roof of The Shoppes and the ArtScience Museum came alive through themed animation and search lights on the Sands SkyPark.

"We are honoured to have the support of David Beckham for our festive celebrations. We appreciate that he remains so involved, as he continues to participate in our ongoing initiatives with our beneficiaries and the larger Singapore community. It has been a fulfilling year for Marina Bay Sands and this is the perfect way to usher in the year-end festivities," said Mr George Tanasijevich, President and Chief Executive Officer of Marina Bay Sands.
