A married father of one, who had sex with a 13-year-old schoolgirl he met online, was jailed for 15 months yesterday.
Chinese national Yu Bi, 29, pleaded guilty to two charges of consensual sex with the girl, and had two other charges of oral sex taken into consideration.
The offences took place at the eighth-floor staircase of a condominium in Hougang in February and May this year.
The court heard that the secondary school student got to know Yu through the QQ online chat service early this year before the two embarked on a relationship.
In February, the supermarket sales assistant went to her family's condominium, then took her to the eighth-floor staircase, where he had unprotected sex with her. He repeated the offence in May.
Yu knew of her age and that she was a secondary school student, and he lied to her, claiming he was 20 at the time.
The girl revealed her relationship to her parents in June and admitted having sex. She made a police report.
Yu could have been jailed for up to 10 years and/or fined on each charge of sex with a person below 16 years old.
