Masagos on five-day visit to Oman to strengthen ties

SINGAPORE - Senior Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Home Affairs Masagos Zulkifli will make an introductory visit to Muscat, Oman from April 5 to 9, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) said on Saturday.

Mr Masagos' visit is part of Singapore's efforts to strengthen relations with members of the Gulf Cooperation Council.

He will meet Minister Responsible for Foreign Affairs Yousuf Bin Alawi and Secretary-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Sayyid Badr Bin Hamad Al Busaidi.

During the visit, Mr Masagos and Minister of Education Dr Madiha Bint Ahmed Al Shibani will sign a Memorandum of Understanding on "Cooperation in the Field of Education".

He will meet other Omani Ministers including Minister of Heritage and Culture His Highness Sayyid Haitham Bin Tariq Al Said, Minister of Interior Sayyid Hamoud Bin Faisal Al Busaidi, Minister of Awqaf and Religious Affairs Sheikh Abdullah Bin Mohammed Al Salimi, Chairman of Duqm Special Economic Zone Authority Yahya Al Jabri, Chairman of Muscat Municipality Mohsen Bin Mohammed Al Shaikh and Inspector General of Police and Customs Lieutenant-General Hassan Bin Mohsin Al Shraiqi.

He will also meet Singaporeans living and working in Oman.

Mr Masagos will be accompanied by officials from the MFA.
