Masagos to visit Kuwait and Bahrain to commemorate 30 years of diplomatic relations

SINGAPORE - Minister in the Prime Minister's Office, Second Minister for Foreign Affairs and Second Minister for Home Affairs Masagos Zulkifli will visit Kuwait and Bahrain from April 19 to 22.

The visit will commemorate the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Singapore and the respective countries.

Minister Masagos will be in Kuwait on April 19 and 20 to meet with several Kuwaiti leaders including Speaker of the Kuwait National Assembly, His Excellency Marzouq Ali Al Ghanim; First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, His Excellency Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al Hamad Al Sabah; and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence, His Excellency Lieutenant General Sheikh Khaled Al Jarrah Al Sabah.

He will also witness the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding to renew co-operation between Singapore's Civil Service College and the Civil Service Commission of Kuwait.

Following his visit to Kuwait, Minister Masagos will visit Bahrain where he is expected to call on Bahraini leaders. He will likely meet with Minister of Foreign Affairs, His Excellency Shaikh Khalid Bin Ahmed Bin Mohammed Al Khalifa; Minister of Interior, His Excellency Lieutenant General Shaikh Rashid Bin Abdullah Al Khalifa; and Minister of Commerce and Industry, His Excellency Zayed Rashid Al Zayani.

During his visit, Minister Masagos will also meet the Singapore community and deliver remarks at a reception to commemorate the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations in both Kuwait and Bahrain.

He will be accompanied by officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Trade and Industry, Civil Service College, International Enterprise Singapore and the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore.
