Minister for Foreign Affairs K Shanmugam visits Ukraine

Minister K Shanmugam visited Kyiv, Ukraine from May 6 to 7, said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) in a statement on Friday.

Mr Shanmugam, Minister for Foreign Affairs and Minister for Law, called on Ukraine's President Petro Poroshenko and Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk.

He also attended breakfast hosted by Minister of Foreign Affairs Pavlo Klimkin.

During the meeting, Minister Shanmugam invited the Ukrainian government to exchange experiences in areas such as anti-corruption and e-governances by sending its officials to Singapore under the Singapore Cooperation Programme.

Mr Klimkin in turn offered to share Ukraine's expertise and experience in nuclear safety issues with Singapore.

The MFA added that Ukraine was the first leg of Minister Shanmugam's visit to Ukraine, Italy and the Vatican City from May 6 to 13.

He left for Florence on May 7, and will visit Rome and the Vatican City from May 11 to 13.
