Minister Grace Fu to visit Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan from Oct 20-27

Ms Grace Fu, Second Minister for Foreign Affairs will visit Kazakhstan from Oct 20-24, 2013 and Uzbekistan from Oct 24-27, 2013.

This will be Minister Fu's first visit to Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan during which she will meet her counterparts and explore ways to further deepen the ties between Singapore and the two countries.

The visit to Kazakhstan will also commemorate the 20th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Singapore and Kazakhstan.

During her visit to Astana, Kazakhstan, Minister Fu will be hosted by Minister of Foreign Affairs Erlan Idrissov and meet with Minister of Environment Protection Nurlan Kapparov.

She will also call on the Head of the Presidential Administration of Kazakhstan Karim Massimov and First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Regional Development Bakytzhan Sagintayev.

In addition, Minister Fu will meet with students at Nazarbayev University.

Minister Fu will also travel to Almaty, where she will meet with the Mayor of Almaty Akhmetzhan Yessimov.

During her visit to Tashkent, Uzbekistan, Minister Fu will be hosted by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Murad Askarov and meet with First Deputy Minister for Foreign Economic Relations and Trade Kamalov Akmal as well as Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Water Resources Shavkat Khamraev.

Minister Fu will also call on First Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Rustam Azimov.

In addition, Minister Fu will meet with students at the University of World Economy and Diplomacy.

She will then travel to Samarkand, where she will meet with the Deputy Mayor of Samarkand.

Minister Fu will be accompanied by officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Trade and Industry.
