Ministers join 800 breaking fast at mosque

Amid a call to prayer, about 800 congregants observed the breaking of fast at the Mujahidin Mosque yesterday.

Deputy Prime Minister Teo Chee Hean, who attended the iftar during this Ramadan period, mingled with worshippers and mosque volunteers at the mosque off Commonwealth Avenue.

Also present were Minister-in-charge of Muslim Affairs Yaacob Ibrahim and Tanjong Pagar GRC MP Chia Shi-Lu.

Before the iftar, Mr Teo was taken on a tour of the mosque and shown the community and charity programmes it had initiated, including a humanitarian trip to Kelantan in January following the devastating floods in the Malaysian state.

"I am very happy to see that Masjid Mujahidin has been very active in its youth outreach activities, and also that it's been very active in the community," said Mr Teo, who is also Co-ordinating Minister for National Security and Home Affairs Minister.
