More than $200,000 worth of heroin and cannabis seized in drug bust

SINGAPORE - The Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) has seized a haul of drugs that is estimated to be worth more than $200,000 in two separate operations conducted on Nov 5 in Clementi and Tampines.

About 1.9kg of heroin, 1kg of cannabis and 198g of 'Ice' were seized in total from the drug offenders.

On the morning of Nov 5, CNB officers deployed within the vicinity of Clementi spotted a male suspect arriving at a housing block in a Malaysia-registered motorcycle. He was seen going up to the 17th storey of the block and later appeared downstairs without the bag. The 28-year-old Malaysian was subsequently arrested.

A female suspect, who was found in the same 17th storey unit, was also arrested along with two other male Malaysian suspects who were allegedly involved in the same drug trafficking syndicate.

Later that afternoon, CNB officers and police officers arrested another suspected drug trafficker, a 42-year-old male Singaporean who was seen at the void deck of a housing block at Tampines Street 81. He was subsequently arrested after being escorted to his suspected hideout at the same block.

From the two operations conducted, one Erimin-5 tablet as well as several forms of drug paraphernalia like improvised drug-smoking apparatus and digital weighing scales were seized by CNB officers.

Investigations against all the suspects are on-going. If convicted, they may face the death penalty.
