Motorcyclist dies after accident flings him onto MRT tracks

SINGAPORE - The body of a motorcyclist was found on the train tracks between Khatib and Yio Chu Kang stations, Mr Patrick Nathan from SMRT Corp. said in a statement on Thursday.

He was flung onto the train tracks after being involved in a traffic accident on the Lentor flyover.

SMRT added that its staff assisted the authorities to recover the body.

The Straits Times reported that the deceased was a 29-year-old man who was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

SMRT staff replaced some of the third rail covers damaged by the accident and conducted a thorough check of the North-South Line before the start of train service today.

A police spokesperson said that investigations are ongoing.
