MALACCA - Three men who are believed to be members of the 04 triad cheekily showed four fingers to depict their gang number when they were led out from a magistrate's court after being charged with murder.

The accused, P. Narendranpathy, 26, P. Sethupathi, 25, and Aiman Mazlan, 21, smiled when press photographers rushed to take their pictures outside the courthouse.

The three, from Taman Cheng Jaya, looked calm when the charges were read to them before magistrate Syajaratudur Abd Rahman. However, no plea was recorded during the proceedings yesterday.

Based on the statement of facts, the trio, together with another individual who is still at large, allegedly caused the death of R.R. Sivan, 32, at a home in Taman Bertam Jaya at 10pm on May 4.

They were charged with murder under Section 302 of the Penal Code, which carries the death penalty upon conviction.

DPP Nabilah Nizam prosecuted while the court fixed Oct 31 for re-mention.
