My point: Ensure shophouse windows are safe

Recently, the second-storey window of a shophouse opposite my office in South Bridge Road dislodged and fell onto the pavement right next to a busy bus stop.

Fortunately, nobody was hurt.

While there are regular checks on windows in HDB estates, I wonder if those of shophouses are also inspected from time to time to ensure they are safe, as some of them are obviously old.
