My Point: No plastic bags for small purchases

My Point: No plastic bags for small purchases

I agreewith Mr Elgar Lee ("Lack of environmental consciousness here"; last Friday) that more can be done to raise environmental consciousness here. We can start by taking baby steps.

I often buy a loaf of bread or a can of drink from my neighbourhood convenience store. The cashier usually puts the item into a plastic bag, which I decline.

Many shops are doing the same thing.

Why don't we implement a rule that no plastic bag will be provided for purchases of only one or two items?
