My point: Tighten checkpoint security on both sides

It is worrying to learn of attempts to breach security at Woodlands Checkpoint ("Malaysian arrested for failing to stop at Woodlands Checkpoint"; Tuesday).

In the most recent case, the motorist was unable to produce his travel document. How then could he have cleared immigration on the Malaysian side? I hope the Singapore authorities can work closely with their Malaysian counterparts to conduct a thorough investigation.

Both sides should tighten clearance procedures to prevent such incidents.
