I am a 71-year-old Frenchman who has lived in Singapore for the last four years.
I travel by train and bus most of the time as I find the public transport system here to be safe, clean and efficient.
On each trip, there is always someone, often a local, who would willingly offer his seat to me, even if it is not a reserved one. Many are young and some are even children.
These are people who have been raised well by their parents, schools and society.
It is unfortunate that some foreigners have had bad experiences here.
I have seen some bad behaviour among Singaporeans, but I would not put down the whole country or its people over it.
