MyPaper giveaways snapped up despite rain

She was out shopping on her day off when Dr Michelle Chew saw a crowd gathering above Raffles Place MRT station.

Curious, she followed the crowd and discovered the MyPaper Great Give Away.

After scanning a QR code from an ad in MyPaper, the 25-year-old doctor from KK Women's and Children's Hospital managed to redeem a bottle of Nuxe's Refreshing Moisturising Mist with Rose Petals, worth $28.

She was one of the thousand-odd people who turned up at the event yesterday, jointly organised by MyPaper and skincare brand Nuxe.

While some, like Dr Chew, happened to pass by the event, others specially headed down to the MRT station after seeing yesterday's ad in MyPaper.

Slated to be held from noon to 2pm, the turnout exceeded expectations and all 1,000 bottles were given out by 1pm.

The queue, which snaked around One Raffles Place, had already started forming as early as 11.15am, according to Singapore Press Holdings' brand and promotions manager, Ms Jenny Koh.

Ms Koh added that although it was raining heavily, people continued to queue and some even came armed with umbrellas to join the queue.

Luckily for Ms Shernice Liew, the 35-year-old managed to redeem a bottle just before stocks ran out.

The accountant, who reads MyPaper every weekday, headed down from her workplace in Tanjong Pagar for the giveaway.

She said: "I didn't expect (the giveaway) to end so quickly."
