Naked boy swims in MBS canal

SINGAPORE - A boy was seen skinny dipping in the canal in The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands (MBS) on New Year's Eve at about 10pm, much to the surprise of many shoppers.

The naked boy, said to be about 10 years old, was seen swimming in the canal and climbing a circular structure in the water for about 10 minutes, Lianhe Wanbao reported yesterday.

Student Hong Shan Shan, 13, who was at the integrated resort, said the boy did not get out of the water even when security officers tried to signal for him to do so.

"In the end, two security officers entered the water to bring him up and help him get clothed," she said, adding that the boy's parents were nowhere in sight and the scene was filled with many onlookers. Many people had gathered at MBS for the Marina Bay New Year celebrations.

As seen in a video that Shan Shan sent to Wanbao, some members of the public appeared to cheer the boy on, while he seemed to ignore the security officers.

When the officers got him out of the water and dressed him, the youth did not appear to put up any resistance and left the scene with them.
