Navy intercepts small boat off Changi Naval Base

SINGAPORE - Members from the Republic of Singapore Navy's Changi Defence Squadron (CDS) have intercepted a small boat that entered gazetted waters off Changi Naval Base on Thursday night (Oct 30).

In a post on the Republic of Singapore Navy's Facebook page, CDS soldiers were alerted to the presence of the boat at around 9.30pm.

An early warning siren was sent out, and a rigid hull inflatable boat (RHIB) was immediately deployed to intercept the small boat.

The small boat had continued its path and collided into the anti-intrusion Port Security Barriers, which disabled and halted it.

Arriving on the scene, the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore and the Police Coast Guard worked with naval officers to investigate the incident.

It was found that the master of the small boat was disoriented in the dark, and there was no ill intent involved.

No one was injured in the incident.
