SINGAPORE - The National Day Parade (NDP) 2014 has been declared as a 'Special Event' under the Public Order Act, said the Singapore Police Force in a statement on Monday. Accordingly, the Marina Bay and its surrounding areas have been designated as a 'Special Event Site' under the said Act.

The gazette on the Special Event Site (NDP) will take effect on August 9 from 12.01am to 11.59pm.

The reserve date for the parade will be on Sunday, August 10 and the gazette will take effect if it is held on the day.

Security checks on persons and belongings may be conducted by Police officers within the Special Event Site.

For safety and security reasons, members of the public are prohibited from bringing prohibited items, such as explosives and flags wider that 1m by 1m, into the Special Event Site unless authorised by the Police.

Organisers of all public assemblies, whether indoors or outdoors, held within the Special Event Site must also apply for permits from the Police at: http://www.spf.gov.sg/licence/frameset_PP.html

Police seek the cooperation of the public to comply with all orders issued by Police officers. Persons engaging in activities which compromise security within the Special Event Site may be removed and dealt with accordingly under the law.
