NDP ticket applications start May 8

Singaporeans and permanent residents can apply for tickets to this year's National Day Parade (NDP) and to its preview between May 8 and 17.

Applicants can choose to ballot for two, four or six tickets to either the NDP on Aug 9 or the preview on Aug 1. Those who apply for fewer tickets stand higher chances of obtaining them, the NDP 2015 executive committee said in a statement today.

The NDP will be held at the Padang, with The Float @ Marina Bay as a second ticketed satellite site for Singaporeans to join in the festivities.

Applicants can ballot for tickets, which are also required for children and infants, at the Padang, The Float @ Marina Bay, or either location. The venues seat 25,000 spectators each.

Applications can be submitted via SMS, the official NDP website, or at SAM and AXS stations.

To apply via SMS, send your details in the following format to 8240-0050:

To select the Padang, applicants should key in the number "1".

To select The Float @ Marina Bay, applicants should key in the number "2".

To selection either location, applicants should key in the number "0".

Those applying via the official NDP website or at SAM and AXS stations will be required to fill in all the fields as prompted on the screen before submitting the application form.

Each NRIC holder is limited to one application. If more than one entry is made, only the latest application will be entered for the electronic ballot when the application period ends on May 17.

Successful applicants will be notified between June 1 and 5 via the contact number provided in their applications. They can collect their tickets at the Marina Square Shopping Mall atrium, where the NDP 2015 Exhibition will be held, between 10am and 10pm daily from June 5 to 14.

Those who managed to get tickets to last year's NDP will not be eligible for this year's balloting exercise.

The theme for NDP 2015 is "Majulah Singapura", which calls on Singaporeans to reflect on their achievements over the past 50 years and to work collectively towards a bright future.

"As we celebrate our Golden Jubilee, our team realised that Singapore's progress today stands on the shoulders of those who have come before us, especially those in the pioneer generation. Fifty years on, meeting tomorrow's challenges will require the same vision, hard work, and persistence of those men and women who acted so boldly decades ago," Brigadier-General Melvyn Ong, chairman of the NDP 2015 executive committee said.

The parade will be broadcast live at the Marina Bay Sands Event Plaza, The Promontory @ Marina Bay, Merlion Park, Marina Barrage, and Gardens by the Bay.

It will feature a special segment at the beginning to remember the late Mr Lee Kuan Yew. There will be a film and performance and an aerial salute by the Republic of Singapore Air Force's Black Knights, who will fly in a "five-star" formation.

The theme song for NDP 2015 is "Our Singapore", composed by local singer-songwriter Dick Lee.
