New bus depot to be built off Boon Lay Way: LTA

The Land Transport Authority (LTA) announced on Thursday that it will build a new bus depot at Ulu Pandan to accommodate the growing bus fleet in Singapore.

The Ulu Pandan bus depot is expected to be completed by the first quarter of 2018 and will accommodate about 500 buses.

The depot will be equipped with facilities for bus maintenance and parking as well as offices and rest areas for bus drivers.

LTA said that the construction of the new bus depot off Boon Lay Way along Business Park Drive will support higher service standards under the expanded Bus Service Enhancement Programme (BSEP) and the Government Contracting Model (GCM).

On Thursday, LTA also called a tender to invite contractors to submit their cost proposals to build the new bus depot.

The completed bus depot will then be handed over to the Public Transport Operators for outfitting and preparatory works before commencing operations.
