New data science academy open to working professionals

SINGAPORE - Temasek Polytechnic (TP) has partnered software company Pivotal and IT firm EMC Computer Systems to launch the TP-Pivotal Data Science Academy.

The academy will offer a practical, hands-on programme with certification for aspiring data scientists and Big Data engineers. Both companies will provide the hardware, software and initial expertise to kick start the academy programme while lessons will be carried out on TP's campus.

The academy is an extension of TP's two full-time and part-time diploma programmes on Big Data Management and Business Analytics, providing short elective courses and a six-week projects programme.

Working professionals who wish to be certified in Data Science can register for specialist diploma courses or short certification courses at the academy.

The first intake is expected to commence in the second or third quarter of next year with an enrolment of about 100 participants.
