New High Court Judge and Supreme Court Judicial Commissioners appointed

Judicial Commissioner George Wei Sze Shun has been appointed as a Judge of the High Court, while Senior Counsel Mr Kannan Ramesh and Ms Foo Tuat Yien have been appointed as Judicial Commissioners of the Supreme Court, announced the Supreme Court in a statement.

Mr Wei, Mr Ramesh and Ms Foo were sworn in at a ceremony held at the Istana today.

Mr Wei's new appointment came into effect from May 25. Meanwhile, Mr Ramesh was appointed from May 22 for a term of two years, and Ms Foo was appointed from May 25 for a term of three years.

The three were appointed by President Tony Tan, acting in his discretion, along with the advice of Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong.

With the new appointments, the Supreme Court will have a total of 14 Judges (including the Chief Justice), 10 Judicial Commissioners, five Senior Judges and 12 International Judges.
