SINGAPORE - Straits Times Press (STP), the book publishing arm of Singapore Press Holdings (SPH), today launched "Lee Kuan Yew - A Tribute", a keepsake edition of the very best of The Straits Times coverage after the death of Singapore's first Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew.

This curated collection contains essays, photo spreads and tributes first published in The Straits Times during the mourning period of the late Mr Lee Kuan Yew from 23 March to 26 March 2015 .

It retails at $25 (before GST) per copy and was made possible by the sponsorship of DBS Bank.

This 148-page, full-colour book captures Mr Lee's impact on Singapore, Singaporeans and the global stage, through recollections from his colleagues, friends and family, as well as essays, old and new, by the newspapers' most seasoned political journalists.

"Lee Kuan Yew - A Tribute" comprises five main sections and cover the key milestones in Mr Lee's life, from his time as a lawyer and his work with the unions, to his foray into politics and going on the campaign trail, his tireless nation-building efforts, his crafting of foreign policy, and as a devoted family man.

Mr Warren Fernandez, The Straits Times editor, said: "Many readers wrote to ST thanking us for our thorough coverage over the mourning period and asking us to do a special commemorative edition that they could keep. This book is our attempt at a keepsake collection that will not yellow with time. It showcases the depth, breadth and range of ST's coverage and our most seasoned political writers at their best."

Ms Susan Long, Straits Times Press general manager, said: "This book is a collection of the best essays, some unpublished, and the most heartfelt tributes by his nearest and dearest. To the uninitiated, I hope this book will go some way to explain the giant of the man LKY was and his towering role in every facet of Singapore's development.

"For the initiated, I hope this book will evoke memories of the week following 23 March 2015, the week of acute national loss, where a great man brought out the best in all of us."

The book, "Lee Kuan Yew - A Tribute", is available at leading bookstores at $26.75 (GST inclusive) from 21 May. The book can also be ordered from the Straits Times Press online bookstore at: from 21 May onwards.
