SINGAPORE - Lego fans will be delighted to know that a new Lego certified store has opened in Singapore at Suntec City Mall.
Located on the third level of Suntec City Mall Tower 3 and taking over the existing premise of Bricks World, the store is a partnershp between Lego Singapore and Bricks World, the oldest and largest Lego retailer here.
The Straits Times (ST) reported that about 100 fans were in the queue to enter the store at the opening this morning.
They were trying to get their hands on a limited edition miniature Lego Brand Retail New Store Opening Set that is made specially to celebrate store openings. It is given out whenever Lego opens a store anywhere in the world and it is not available for sale.
For Singapore's opening, 100 such sets will be given out over 2 days - Nov 29 and 30 - to the first 50 customers on each day who spend a minimum of $100 or more. This is limited to 1 set per customer.
By 11.20am, all 50 sets had been claimed, according to ST. However, fans can try again tomorrow when another 50 sets will be given out when the store opens at 10.30am.
Ms Dan Luo, Managing Director of LEGO Singapore said: "Opening Singapore's first Lego certified store marks an important milestone for the Lego group in Singapore, as it will help to strengthen the brand in Asia, the fastest growing market in the Lego world."
The store had been specially designed by the Lego Group which includes a key feature, the Pick-a-Brick Wall, where customers will be able to select bricks that they want a la carte. As this has never been offered in Singapore before, fans looking for specific pieces now don't have to travel to Legoland Malaysia in Johor Bahru or source for them online, they can get it at the local store.
Other highlights of the store include an interactive play area called "The Living Room", and a display of fully assembled Lego models.
From next January, the Lego store here will also have exclusive sets that will be released at the same time as in the US and Europe.
