New Zealand Air Force chief visits Singapore

SINGAPORE - The close and long-standing defence relations between Singapore and New Zealand were reaffirmed when the Chief of the Royal New Zealand Air Force (RNZAF), Air Vice-Marshal (AVM) Michael Yardley called on Minister for Defence Dr Ng Eng Hen at the Ministry of Defence (Mindef) this morning.

In a statement on Thursday, Mindef said that AVM Yardley, who is in Singapore for an introductory visit from Nov 10 to 12, had earlier met with Chief of Defence Force Major-General (MG) Perry Lim and Chief of Air Force MG Hoo Cher Mou, after inspecting the Guard of Honour.

As part of his visit, AVM Yardley also visited Sembawang Air Base yesterday.

The Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) and the RNZAF interact under the ambit of the Five Power Defence Arrangements (FPDA).

Both air forces also interact regularly through multilateral exercises, professional exchanges, and cross-attendance of courses.

"These extensive interactions have enhanced the interoperability between the two air forces, as well as the professional rapport and ties between their personnel," Mindef said.
