NMPs seeking second terms: Clerk of Parliament replies

The information box that accompanied Tuesday's article ("Veteran unionist to seek NMP term"), on whether the Nominated MPs will seek a second term after their term expires in August, said Mr R. Dhinakaran and Associate Professor Eugene Tan are "staying on".

All applicants, including current NMPs who wish to continue for another term, will have to submit their names for consideration by the Special Select Committee of Parliament chaired by the Speaker.

After the close of applications on May 20, this Committee will then consider all applications before deciding on the candidates that it will nominate for the President's consideration and appointment.
