No breach of ban on sale and consumption of alcohol in Little India: Police

SINGAPORE - There was no breach of the ban imposed by the Singapore authorities on the sale and consumption of alcohol in the proclaimed areas of Little India under the Public Order (Preservation) Act the weekend after the Dec 8 riot.

Here is the full statement from the police:

For the period of Dec 14, 6am to Dec 16, 6am, there were no incidents reported in Little India. There were also no breaches of the ban on sale and consumption of alcohol, which were prohibited over the weekend of 14-15 December in the proclaimed areas of Little India under the Public Order (Preservation) Act.

The police is reviewing the longer-term measures for Little India for next weekend and beyond, taking into consideration the situation at Little India this weekend and the interests of all affected stakeholders. Details will be announced in due course.
