No train service between Joo Koon and Boon Lay due to power fault: SMRT

SINGAPORE - A traction power fault has caused train services between Joo Koon and Boon Lay on the East-West line to be disrupted for more than an hour on Thursday night (Dec 17).

SMRT said in a statement on Facebook: "Joo Koon and Pioneer stations remain closed as our engineering staff work to resolve the fault."

It added that about 65 passengers aboard an eastbound train from Joo Koon towards Pioneer were detrained close to Pioneer station.

A tweet by SMRT reported additional 20 minutes of travelling time in both directions between Boon Lay and Joo Koon at 7.49pm. At 8.15pm, it said that there were no train services between the stations in both directions.

It also said that additional 10 minutes of travelling time between Boon Lay and Jurong East is needed.

At 8.40pm, SMRT tweeted that it is working to recover the service.

Free bus and shuttle services are available between Joo Koon and Jurong East. Train services are available from Pasir Ris to Boon Lay MRT station.

At 9:36pm, SMRT posted on its Facebook page again: "We are in the process of recovering the train that stalled between Joo Koon and Pioneer MRT stations to enable the resumption of train service. We will keep commuters posted."
