NSman collapses after 2.4km IPPT run

SINGAPORE - An operationally-ready national serviceman (NSman) collapsed after completing a 2.4km run at Selarang Camp on Monday.

Corporal (NS) Gan Theng Kiong, 34, had a cardiac arrest after finishing the run for his Individual Physical Proficiency Test (IPPT) at 9.15am, said the Defence Ministry in a statement yesterday. He has no known prior medical history or existing condition, the statement added.

A medic attended to the NSman and, a minute later, sent him to the Selarang Camp Medical Centre, where cardiopulmonary resuscitation was performed on him.

He was later sent to Changi General Hospital. At 9.50am, he arrived at the hospital, where he underwent an "emergency procedure".
