NSMen make SG50 logo out of 50,000 badges

SINGAPORE - More than 3,800 Operationally Ready National Servicemen (NSmen) and their families have set a new Singapore record for the largest logo made of 50,000 badges.

The 'Together We Build 50K Challenge' event was organised by SAFRA Mount Faber to celebrate SG50 and SAF50 this year.

NSmen and their families made the 50,000 badges over the last two months. The giant SG50 logo they made measures about 5.6 metres in diameter.

The logo montage, which entered the Singapore Book of Records, was unveiled at the club on Saturday by Senior Lieutenant-Colonel (SLTC) (NS) Laurence Goh, Chairman of the SAFRA Mount Faber Executive Committee.

SLTC (NS) Goh said: "Every badge is a recognition that Singapore's success did not come for free; it was made possible through the sacrifices of generations of national servicemen to protect our country."

The logo montage will be on display at the club from now till Aug 31. The previous record of 2,550 badges was set in 2014 by Tampines Secondary School.
