NTUC FairPrice extends Pioneer Generation discount for another year

Local supermarket chain NTUC Fairprice announced on Monday (Dec 21) that it will extend discounts for Pioneer Generation shoppers until Dec 31, 2016.

Seniors who flash their Pioneer Generation cards at the cashier counters will continue to enjoy a 3 per cent discount off their purchases every Monday.

In a media release, FairPrice CEO Seah Kian Peng said: "With the extension of the Pioneer Generation discount scheme, we hope to continue to provide greater savings for pioneers to purchase their daily essentials and stretch their dollar."

He added: "This is our small way of thanking and honouring our pioneers who have given so much of themselves for Singapore."

The Pioneer Generation discount was introduced in 2014 to help seniors aged 65 and above to cope with the cost of basic essentials.

Earlier this month, FairPrice also opened its first Enabled Store, designed to cater to the needs of elderly and disabled shoppers.

Located at Enabling Village at 20 Lengkok Bahru, the store has special features and products so that they can enjoy a better shopping experience.

Service staff at the outlet are also trained to communicate and assist elderly shoppers.
