One dead, five injured in KL shooting incident

KUALA LUMPUR - A 38-year-old man was killed while five others seriously injured when a gunman fired a barrage of bullets towards them in front of a restaurant in Jalan Ipoh, here, this morning.

The incident that happened between 4.30am and 5am unfolded when the suspect, who came in a Perodua MyVi, approached the victims who were having drinks at the restaurant.

Sentul police chief Assistant Commisioner Zakaria Pagan said the suspect then opened fire, using what is believed to be a semi-automatic pistol.

"He then got back into the car, which was driven by another suspect, and fled the scene.

"The victims were rushed to the Kuala Lumpur Hospital, where one of them was pronounced dead upon arrival.

"The other victims are being treated at the Emergency Department for injuries including gunshot wounds to the hand, leg, shoulder and cheek."

Zakaria said police recovered seven bullet casings from the crime scene, and the case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
