Orchard Central arts hub for youth

SINGAPORE - More than 100 young beneficiaries of The Business Times Budding Artists Fund will soon have a venue right in the heart of Orchard Road.

Property developer Far East Organisation has handed over a 10th-storey carpark at Orchard Central to The Old Parliament House Ltd, to be turned into an arts incubator.

The space will be converted into a theatre, auditorium and studios for the teens from financially disadvantaged backgrounds to hone their skills in dance, music and the visual arts.

A cafe will also be set up, and communal space will be allocated to facilitate interacting, exchanging ideas and working together on art projects. Far East will meet the construction costs.
