SINGAPORE - Chinese orchestra music, traditional dances and drama performances are just some of the offerings that will be featured in this year's Singapore Youth Festival (SYF).

Now in its 49th year, this year's SYF will take place between April and July 2015.

In a statement today, the Ministry of Education (MOE) said that the month-long SYF Arts Presentation will be from Mar 31 to Apr 30, and will feature over 900 presentations by close to 40,000 secondary school, junior college and Millenia Institute students.

With the theme of "artIst: Past. Present. Future", this year's Art Exhibition "celebrates the artist in every student and signifies the access to art for every student in our schools," MOE said.

The presentations include music, dance and English and Chinese drama performances at various venues around Singapore.

Meanwhile, the annual SYF Art Exhibition will be held at Raffles City Shopping Centre from Jul 10-19, and will showcase artworks by primary school students.

As Singapore celebrates its 50th birthday this year, the SYF Celebrations will culminate with Youth Celebrate!, a large-scale, youth-centred event on Jul 26 at the Singapore Sports Hub.

The event, held in conjunction with the SG50 celebrations, will showcase youth achievements in sports, uniformed groups and performing arts.

Members of the public are encouraged to support the Arts Presentation and Art Exhibition. Admission to the events are free.
