Panda mascots surprise shoppers at Westgate mall

SINGAPORE - In anticipation of pandas Kai Kai and Jia Jia's upcoming birthdays and second year anniversary in Singapore, a special parade of eight panda mascots turned up to surprise visitors at Westgate mall on Sunday to raise awareness of wildlife conservation.

Shoppers were encouraged to put on panda masks as they pledged their commitment to save pandas through various ways including conserving fuel by taking public transport, and refraining from using products that may endanger animals.

They were also given a chance to win tickets to River Safari's Panda Party week which will be held from September 6 to September 14.

Activities at the malls are being held as a part of River Safari's effort to increase public awareness on the plight of giant pandas.

The public can look out for more panda-related activities at ION Orchard on August 30 and August 31.
