Pandan Loop murder: 2 more suspects nabbed

TWO more suspects have been arrested in connection with the death of a 26-year-old technician at Pandan Loop, police said yesterday.

The two suspects, aged 27 and 28, are believed to be Indian nationals.

Earlier this week, Indian national Thiruppathi Veerapperumal, 26, was charged with the murder of his fellow countryman, Mr Murugaiya Suresh Kumar, last Saturday.

Veerapperumal protested against the capital charge, which carries a death penalty, and said through an interpreter that he did not commit the offence.

Mr Kumar was found dead at an industrial estate near 60 Pandan Loop, where he worked.

He was an employee of Poly NDT, which carries out testing and inspections of parts of ships, such as hulls.

Police said they had received a call for help at about 10.30pm and found Mr Kumar lying motionless on the ground.

Blood stains were reportedly splattered along the road, and also on the fencing of a nearby construction site.

Mr Kumar was found to have suffered trauma injuries to his head and neck. He also had a deformity on his left hand, a Singapore Civil Defence Force spokesman said.

Paramedics at the scene pronounced Mr Kumar dead just before 11pm.
