PAP's Fengshan SMC candidate, East Coast GRC slate announced

SINGAPORE - Grassroots leader Cheryl Chan will be the People Action Party's (PAP) candidate contesting the new Fengshan single-member constituency (SMC) in the coming general election, Channel NewsAsia reported.

The ward, which has been carved out from East Coast group representation constituency (GRC) under the new electoral boundaries, is currently helmed by former transport minister Raymond Lim. The 56-year-old had announced his decision to retire earlier this month.

He was part of the 2011 team that defeated the Workers' Party with 54.8 per cent of the vote share - the PAP's worst-performing GRC in the last general election.

Incumbents Lim Swee Say, 61, Lee Yi Shyan, 53, Mohamad Maliki Osman, 50, and Jessica Tan, 49, will be staying on to defend their seats.
