Part of Connaught Drive closed from 10pm on Polling Day

SINGAPORE - On Polling Day, Connaught Drive between Stamford Road and Fullerton Road will be closed to traffic from 10pm on Sep 11 to 6am on Sep 12 to facilitate election proceedings.

During the road closure, only authorised vehicles will be allowed to enter and parking is not allowed along the peripheral roads, said the police on Wednesday. Any vehicles found parking indiscriminately or causing obstruction will be towed away.

Bus services 75 and 167 will skip a bus stop opposite the Singapore Cricket Club (bus stop 02029) along Connaught Drive, said SMRT in a separate release today.

When going to cast votes, voters are advised to take public transport or walk to their polling stations where possible.

Parking will not be allowed within the premises of polling stations located in schools and Community Centres. For polling stations at HDB void decks, the parking lots immediately fronting the polling stations will be closed to facilitate polling activities.

There will be special drop-off points at polling stations for vehicles conveying elderly or physically disabled persons.

Bags and other belongings brought into the polling stations will be subject to security checks. Voters are advised not to bring along items such as sharp object(s), flammable liquids or gas, bulky items or big bags.

Voters should leave the polling station after casting their votes and not to loiter around the vicinity, said the police.
