Perlis Customs Department reminds public about buying cars at very low prices

The Perlis Customs Department has reminded the public to be careful when buying cars offered at very low prices, reported Kwong Wah Yit Poh.

Department director Datuk Mohd Pudzi Man said five people had become victims to a vehicle smuggling syndicate last month by purchasing cars sold at 70 per cent lower than the market price.

"In January, we recovered five stolen cars - a BMW, a Honda Odyssey, a Honda Stream and two Toyota Wish - which were brought in from Singapore to Kuala Perlis and Kangar.

"The buyers bought the cars from the syndicate even though they knew that the vehicles had forged road tax and did not have an import permit," Mohd Puzi said after visiting the Padang Besar Customs, Immigration and Quarantine Complex on Thursday.
