KAJANG - The father who made headlines in recent days over allegations he had sex with his daughter, pleaded not guilty to the charges at the Sessions Court here.
Petty trader Teoh Boon Huang, 46, was charged with having sex with his daughter at their home in Taman Cheras Perdana at 3am on Oct 23.
When asked for his plea in Mandarin, Teoh hesitated and the interpreter prompted him three times before he entered his plea of not guilty.
Teoh, who was wearing a beige shirt and brown cargo pants, remained silent and stared at the floor throughout the proceedings.
DPP Siaw Chooi Chin urged the court not to offer bail as the victim was his daughter.
Counsel Douglas Yee did not object, saying his client had given instructions not to ask for bail as he could not afford it.
Teoh faces up to 20 years' jail and whipping, if convicted under Section 376B of the Penal Code, for incest.
Under the section, a person is said to have committed incest if he has had sexual intercourse with a person whose relationship to him is such that he is not permitted to marry her under the law, religion or custom.
Judge Nor Hazani Hamzah denied bail and fixed Dec 24 for the next mention.
The Star reported that the man had allegedly been having sex for over three years with his daughter, now 21 years old, in their home in Kajang whenever his wife was not around.
An uncle who runs a hair salon where the daughter was working suspected something amiss after seeing steamy SMS messages exchanged between the father and daughter.
The girl had confessed to having consensual sex with her father since she was 18.
