Planting ceremony to mark 20th anniversary of China-Singapore Suzhou Industrial Park

SINGAPORE - Mayor of Suzhou Municipal Government Mr Zhou Naixiang officiated a planting ceremony in Singapore to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the China-Singapore Suzhou Industrial Park (SIP) on Sunday.

Five Osmanthus fragrans saplings, Suzhou's city flower, were planted. The planting ceremony at the Mediterranean Garden in Flower Dome was the first time a Chinese city has planted its city flower at Gardens by the Bay.

The symbolic planting ceremony underscores the special and long-standing friendship between Singapore and Suzhou.

The SIP project is a flagship bilateral collaboration between Singapore and China. Over the past decades, cooperation between both sides has flourished beyond the economic realm to include cultural and people-to-people exchanges.

Today, the 288 sq km SIP is one of China's most competitive industrial parks and home to more than 5,000 enterprises, of which 150 are Fortune 500 companies. SIP has also successfully replicated its model to other parts of China, including Nantong in Jiangsu and Chuzhou in Anhui.
