Police and SCDF rescue man from 12th-storey ledge of Yishun block

A 23-year-old man was heard yelling as he sat on the 12th-storey ledge of Block 297, Yishun Street 20, yesterday night (Jan 31), at around 10pm.

Stomp contributors Kayden and Cindy were at the scene when officers from the Singapore Civil Defence Force and police were in the midst of a rescue mission.

According to Kayden, the man kept shouting that he did not want to be rescued.

A spokesperson for the Police said: "Police received a call on 31 Jan 2015 at about 10.03pm, requesting for assistance at Block 297, Yishun Street 20.

"Upon Police's arrival, it was established that a case of attempted suicide had occurred at the said location.

"A 23 year-old man was arrested in relation to the case and police investigations are ongoing."
