Police arrest 2 teens for suspected motorcycle theft

SINGAPORE - Police have arrested two youths, aged 16 and 17, for suspected involvement in a case of theft of motorcycle.

The owner of the motorcycle reported the theft in Jurong West Avenue 4 to the police on Saturday.

The motorcycle was spotted in Jurong West Avenue 5 on Sunday at about 6.30pm. Police conducted an operation and subsequently arrested the two youths.

The two suspects will be charged in court tomorrow. If convicted, they could be jailed up to seven years and be liable to a fine.

The police advise motorcycle owners to park their vehicles in well-lit areas and to use addtional locking devices, such as disc brake locks. Owners should also remove the ignition key from the vehicle and lock the vehicle whenever it is left unattended, even if it is only for a short moment, the police said.
