SINGAPORE - A series of police operations and raids at various entertainment outlets, coffee shops, private residential units, hotels, and back-alleys in Geylang has resulted in the arrests of 71 people.

Out of these, 46 were men and 25 were women. Their ages range from 17 to 57 years old.

The multi-agency operations led by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) began on May 11 and ended on Saturday morning.

Those arrested are believed to be involved in gang activities, drug offences, immigration offences, drink driving, and other vice activities.

The operations also led to a crackdown in illegal hawking, fire and health safety infringements, as well as customs and labour infringements.

Police said in a statement that more enforcement operations will be carried out.
