Police said that they have arrested eight men, aged 18 to 33, for setting off an "improvised explosive device" constructed from sparklers.
The police said that officers responding to a report of a fire in Woodlands Drive 50 spotted burnt marks on the ground and bundled sparklers that had been lit.
After interviewing eight men found in the vicinity, the officers arrested them for "negligent conduct with respect to an explosive substance".
The police said that the offence is punishable with an imprisonment term of up to a year, or a fine of up to $5,000, or both.
Since last month, there have been 14 cases where 62 persons were arrested for setting off "improvised explosive devices constructed from sparklers", the police said.
