Police arrest man for robbing victim as she enters house

SINGAPORE - A 36-year-old man who robbed a woman on Aug 3 at about 10.42pm as she was about to enter her house in the vicinity of Ang Mo Kio Street 51, has been arrested by the police.

The 27-year-old victim called the police hotline after the robber fled with her handbag containing cash and identification documents.

Officers from the Ang Mo Kio Police Division later managed to obtain an image of the suspect from a CCTV. The victim's handbag and personal belongings, as well as the knife believed to be used to commit the robbery, were recovered and seized as case exhibits.

The man was subsequently arrested on Aug 9 after spotting him in the vicinity of Ang Mo Kio Avenue 8.

The suspect will be charged in Court on Aug 11 for armed robbery. If convicted, he may face a jail term of up to 14 years and shall be liable for caning of not less than 12 strokes.
